New York-based startup Polyphron has secured $20 million in seed funding. The round was led by Quiet Capital, with participation from Haystack, Gradient, and Compound, alongside various angel investors.

The company develops AI models designed to simulate human biology. By manufacturing living human tissue in an automated lab, Polyphron allows pharmaceutical and biotech firms to test drug candidates on donor-derived samples before proceeding to clinical trials.

Currently, the platform produces cardiac tissue and is preparing to incorporate liver tissue. The team aims to expand its donor panel to include more than 20 distinct lines to better capture biological diversity and improve predictive accuracy.

Polyphron operates as a closed-loop system where physical experiments generate data that continuously refines its predictive models. The company intends to use the new capital to scale its infrastructure, increase experimental throughput, and broaden its range of tissue types.
