The jailbroken PlayStation 5 ecosystem has gained a new tool called Playden for PS5, an alpha launcher developed by leolobato. This software allows users to download and execute Steam games directly on the console without relying on PC streaming. The application functions as a standard PS5 app, eliminating the need to boot into a separate Linux environment.

The launcher utilizes prospero-win, a port of Wine for the console, and employs DXVK for graphics processing. Version 0.5.0 introduced Direct3D 12 support via VKD3D-Proton, enabling compatibility with titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Deep Rock Galactic. The initial public release of the software occurred on October 12.

The latest update, version 0.6.0, adds support for USB and FTP game imports, 120 Hz output, and 4K resolution settings. While the project is experimental, it currently supports various titles, including Half-Life 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and Vampire Survivors. Many other games remain incompatible and may crash or fail to launch.
