San Francisco-based startup PitPro Automation has launched its first automated tire-changing system in Canada. The technology is currently operating at a Kal Tire location in Calgary, Alberta, marking the company's first real-world deployment.

The robotic system consists of two units, each roughly the size of an oven, equipped with sensors and robotic arms. It is designed to fit into existing maintenance bays and can replace a full set of four tires in under 15 minutes.

CEO Jeremy Conrad stated that the company is targeting large tire service chains due to their standardized layouts. The system allows mechanics to continue using the same maintenance bay for other tasks, which increases the appeal for service centers.

PitPro is addressing the labor shortage in the automotive service industry. The startup continues to focus on commercial fleet partnerships and has engaged former Ford Pro executive Ted Cannis as an advisor to support its expansion efforts.
