Photon Bridge, a startup based in Eindhoven, has secured €10 million in a new funding round. The investment was co-led by Amadeus APEX Technology Fund and 360 Capital, with participation from existing backers Innovation Industries, Faber, and the Brabant Development Agency. This follows a €4.75 million seed round raised in January 2025.
Founded in 2020 by Rui Santos and Xaveer Leijtens, the company develops high-power, multi-wavelength laser-source technology for AI data centers. The firm aims to address data transfer bottlenecks as AI clusters scale to hundreds of thousands of chips. Its architecture multiplexes light from multiple lower-power semiconductor lasers to improve manufacturing yield.
The platform supports up to 40 mW of optical power per wavelength per fiber and is designed for production across multiple indium phosphide foundries. Following a rebranding from Photon IP in September 2025 and the appointment of CEO Paul Marchal, the company is preparing for the transition of laser manufacturing to semiconductor-scale volumes.
The startup intends to utilize the new capital to accelerate product development and customer qualification processes. Photon Bridge plans to deliver its first samples in 2027 and initiate volume manufacturing by 2028. Additionally, the company will expand its team in Eindhoven to support its commercialization efforts.
