YouTuber Felix Kjellberg, known as PewDiePie, released an AI assistant named Ajax in early October 2026. The model is a fine-tuned version of Alibaba’s Qwen3.5-9B, featuring 9 billion parameters. It is designed to run on consumer hardware within Odysseus, a self-hosted workspace launched by Kjellberg in May 2026.
Ajax is intended to perform tasks such as web searches, email management, and calendar scheduling. To remove the model's tendency to refuse requests, Kjellberg utilized a tool called Heretic for a process known as abliteration. Despite this, the model maintains safety boundaries against harmful content.
Kjellberg reports that OpenAI suspended his account twice during the development of Ajax. He claims the suspensions were due to distillation, specifically the use of outputs from OpenAI models, including one named Sol, to generate training data for his assistant.
As of early October 2026, the project lacks a public model card, published benchmarks, a confirmed weights license, and a direct download link. The absence of this documentation and the reliance on external model outputs have raised questions regarding the model's licensing and performance.
