Palo Alto Networks is currently negotiating the acquisition of Clutch Security, a startup specializing in securing AI agent access to corporate systems. The proposed deal is valued at $500 million in cash, with additional payments tied to performance milestones.

Clutch, founded three years ago, reached a valuation of $85 million during its Series A funding round in January 2025. The company currently generates approximately $10 million in annual recurring revenue, placing the acquisition multiple at roughly 50 times ARR.

This potential transaction marks a continuation of an aggressive M&A strategy for Palo Alto Networks, which has completed six other acquisitions this year. Previous purchases include Console for $500 million, Embrace for $325 million, Chronosphere for $2.95 billion, and Koi for $231 million.

The cybersecurity sector is seeing significant consolidation as companies seek to defend against AI-driven threats. Competitors in the AI agent security space have also been acquired, with Oasis Security sold to Cyera for $1 billion and Astrix acquired by Cisco for approximately $400 million.
