A recent survey conducted by Epoch AI and Ipsos in March 2026 reveals that 26% of US employees utilized paid artificial intelligence services for professional tasks during the previous week. The study involved a sample of over 2,000 employed adults across the United States.

The data indicates a correlation between payment methods and workplace application. Among employees with employer-provided subscriptions, 76% used AI for work. For those paying for subscriptions personally, the figure was 58%, while users of free tiers reported a 38% usage rate for professional duties.

Regarding the impact of these tools, 27% of users reported that AI replaced existing job tasks, while 21% noted that the technology enabled them to undertake new types of work. Generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Copilot are identified as key drivers of this transition.

Gallup tracking data from late 2025 through 2026 shows that frequent workplace usage reached 26%. Daily usage fluctuated between 10% and 12%, while occasional usage, defined as a few times per year, ranged from 45% to 52% of the workforce.
