Pacific Quartz has been supplying high-purity quartz consumables to Lam Research and Tokyo Electron since 2019–2020. The company provides components such as LPCVD diffusion tubes, wafer boats, and quartz plates with a purity level of 4N5 to 5N, which corresponds to approximately 99.995–99.999% SiO2.

The manufacturer recently announced that its quartz products, derived from its own high-purity sand, passed qualification at a major Chinese DRAM producer, identified as CXMT. These components are now approved for use in 300-mm wafer production processes.

Despite these advancements, the industry remains dependent on Sibelco, The Quartz Corp., and Russian Quartz LLC for the production of crucibles. These items require ultra-high-purity quartz, typically exceeding 99.999% SiO2, to grow silicon wafers with 9N–11N purity levels.

Crucibles are essential for wafer manufacturing, and Pacific Quartz currently lacks the capability to produce them at the required purity standards. Contaminants in quartz can migrate into silicon wafers during high-temperature processing, negatively impacting transistor characteristics and overall yield.
