Swiss retailer OTTO’S is transitioning its entire truck fleet to electric vehicles, deploying 22 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks. These vehicles will supply goods to over 140 branches across Switzerland, with the bodywork provided by the manufacturer Lanz + Marti.
The eActros 600 features three battery packs with lithium iron phosphate cells and a total capacity of 621 kWh. The model, in series production since November 2024, offers a range of approximately 500 kilometres and supports CCS charging at up to 400 kW.
According to CEO Mark Ineichen, about 80 per cent of the company's daily transport routes fall within the vehicle's range. The trucks typically complete two to four tours daily and return to the headquarters in Sursee for charging.
OTTO’S intends to power its charging infrastructure primarily through its own photovoltaic systems. The company plans to utilize solar energy generated at its headquarters and various branch locations to support the new electric fleet operations.
