OpenAI has expanded its ChatGPT advertising program to 89 markets, marking a significant increase from the 63 countries reported in late September. The platform, which began as a pilot in the United States in February 2026, has seen rapid international growth over the past several months.
The program reached an annualized revenue run rate of $1 billion in less than 200 days, hitting this milestone by late August 2026. Tens of thousands of advertisers are currently utilizing the platform, which offers self-serve tools for campaign management without the need for direct sales negotiations.
Recent geographic additions include markets across Europe, India, the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia. Specifically, on September 23, 2026, the service added Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan to its list of supported regions.
The company maintains that advertisements are visually separated from chatbot responses to prevent user confusion. This expansion allows brands to implement regional targeting, enabling them to reach local audiences directly rather than relying solely on campaigns focused on the US market.
