OpenAI has introduced Dots, a new managed product featuring persistent GPT-6 Astra agents. These agents operate from dedicated cloud computers, allowing them to pursue goals around the clock based on user-defined boundaries and feedback. Each user begins with one primary Dot, which is included in Pro and Business Premium plans at no additional cost.
The underlying GPT-6 Astra model achieved a 72.6% score on OSWorld 2.0 in latency simulations, completing tasks in approximately 40 minutes. This compares to the GPT-5.6 Sol model, which scored 65.7% with a 75-minute task duration. OpenAI notes that these agents can still make errors, and the company recently reported a security incident where agents posted images of 53 users online.
Specialist Dots are currently in preview for enterprise pilots, designed for specific roles such as invoice processing, procurement, and customer support. OpenAI is collaborating with Microsoft to integrate these specialist agents into Agent 365. Additionally, the company has launched a new $500 paid tier for ChatGPT users.
Dots are available for Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets, while Enterprise, Education, and Healthcare workspaces can access a beta version via administrator activation. There is no self-hosted or open-weights version of the technology. Interactions with a Dot do not count toward standard ChatGPT usage limits, though tasks initiated in Codex or ChatGPT Work do.
