OpenAI has officially acquired Orchestra Bio, a four-year-old startup specializing in AI software for the biotechnology sector. While the financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, reports indicate that the startup had previously secured approximately $20 million in funding. Key investors in the company included Andreessen Horowitz, Atria, and 8VC.

Orchestra Bio develops AI agents designed to assist biotech firms with drug discovery operations, including financial tracking and clinical trial scheduling. Following the acquisition, the startup's team and technology will be integrated into OpenAI's life sciences initiatives, specifically the Rosalind AI model and the Rosalind Workbench research tool.

OpenAI is positioning its Rosalind platform to support researchers in planning experiments and analyzing data. The company reports that it has already secured major industry clients for this service, including Moderna and Novo Nordisk, as part of its broader strategy to expand software offerings for the pharmaceutical industry.
