OpenAI has updated the shopping capabilities of ChatGPT by introducing virtual try-on and favorites features. Users can now upload photos to see how specific clothing items or accessories look on them. The new Try on button appears on supported product pages, allowing users to generate images using their own photos.

The virtual try-on feature is powered by the ChatGPT Images 2.5 model. This updated model improves the rendering of lighting and material textures while enhancing the retention of personal features from reference photos. It also offers better image editing capabilities for a more realistic preview of apparel.

Additionally, OpenAI added a Favorites feature that allows users to save items to the ChatGPT Library. Users can organize saved products into folders and store previously generated try-on images alongside their shopping history. This update builds upon the Shopping Research tool launched last year.

The Shopping Research tool, introduced previously, assists users with complex shopping needs by searching for products based on natural language queries. It provides personalized buying guides and direct links. Other companies, including Google and JD.com, are also developing similar AI-based virtual try-on technologies.
