At the OKX NOW Global Product & Ecosystem Conference in Singapore on October 6, 2026, founder Star Xu announced that the company's internal platform, Oli, now handles approximately 95% of engineering code merge requests.
The adoption of AI in the company's development processes has accelerated significantly. In June 2026, AI processed about 50% of engineering pull requests, with that figure climbing to 95% in the following months.
This shift has led to a substantial increase in operational costs. OKX reported that its monthly expenditure on large language model providers rose from $6–8 million in August 2026 to over $10 million by September.
Despite the high level of automation, human engineers remain responsible for reviewing, testing, and providing final approval for the code generated by the AI workflows.
OKX is expanding its use of AI into customer-facing services, including anti-fraud tools and personalized wealth management. The company is currently repositioning itself as a global fintech firm focused on asset custody, payments, and investment services.
