A Chinese repair shop reported receiving eight Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 4090 graphics cards in a single day, all suffering from power connector failures. The batch included two RTX 4090 units, while the remaining six were various models of the RTX 5090.

The damaged hardware includes cards from manufacturers such as MSI, Asus, Gainward, and Nvidia Founders Edition models. The primary issue identified is the melting of the power connector, which in some instances causes damage to the printed circuit board itself.

Repair technicians noted that the severity of the damage varies, with one user forced to cut the power cable because the connector had fused to the socket. Experts suggest that the issue stems from the current design, which utilizes two power lines after the 16-pin connector, unlike the three lines used in the RTX 3090 Ti.
