Nvidia has launched the DSX Ready qualification program to certify third-party power and cooling hardware for its AI data center reference designs. The initiative aims to standardize infrastructure components to support the high energy and thermal management needs of modern AI clusters, where individual GPU racks can consume over 100 kilowatts.
The program evaluates products in two categories: battery energy storage systems and cooling distribution units. Tesla, Hitachi Energy, and LG Energy Solution have received certification for their battery storage systems, while Vertiv, LG Electronics, and LiquidStack were qualified for their cooling units. Tesla's Megapack is specifically included for grid-scale storage.
Nvidia assesses battery storage through submitted test data, while cooling units follow a self-certification model. The company clarified that this qualification indicates compatibility with its infrastructure blueprint but does not guarantee performance at specific sites. Nvidia plans to expand the program to include additional software and infrastructure categories in the future.
