Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced plans to invest in five UK-based startups during an event in London. The chip manufacturer intends to acquire minority stakes in these companies. The selected startups include Boltz, which focuses on AI-driven drug discovery, and Foresight, a firm specializing in infrastructure prediction.
The list of new investments also features Hiverge, an AI logistics planning startup, Prima Mente, which works in the field of AI biology, and Riverlane, a company developing quantum computing solutions. These additions expand Nvidia's existing UK portfolio, which already includes Basecamp Research, Ineffable Intelligence, Synthesia, and Wayve.
These investments follow a recent announcement regarding four French startups: Doctolib, Entalpic, Genesis AI, and Pigment. Additionally, Nvidia committed to a $250 million compute donation to support UK-based AI safety and research initiatives, aiming to strengthen its presence within the European technology sector.
During the London event, Jensen Huang also addressed the geopolitical landscape regarding AI development. He advocated for continued dialogue between Western nations and Chinese AI researchers, emphasizing that the UK is well-positioned to lead due to its intellectual capital and global standing.
