The National Transportation Safety Board held a briefing regarding the Amazon Boeing 767-300 cargo plane incident at Miami International Airport. The aircraft, which departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, with two crew members on board, veered off the runway during landing.

During the incident, the plane struck navigation equipment and a van operated by a cleaning contractor, which carried seven people. The aircraft continued through a perimeter fence, hit another vehicle, and traveled approximately 1,300 feet before coming to a stop in a grassy area.

Investigators have successfully recovered the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder. These devices are being transported to the NTSB headquarters for analysis. A 32-member investigation team is scheduled to begin work on September 8.

The investigation will focus on operational and human factors, as well as a review of the Federal Aviation Administration's oversight of the carrier. Specialized teams will also examine air traffic control services, radar data, and communication logs between pilots and controllers.
