Nous Research, the developer of the Hermes AI agent, has secured $90 million in a Series B funding round. The investment round was led by Robot Ventures, with participation from Nvidia, Samsung Electronics, and Y Combinator. Following this capital injection, the company is now valued at $1.5 billion.
The Hermes agent, which operates as a desktop application, allows users to manage files, execute code in Docker containers, and browse the web. The system utilizes various large language models, including Claude and proprietary versions developed by Nous. The latest Hermes 4 series was trained on a dataset of 5 million synthetically generated records.
The company employs a routing mechanism that directs user prompts to the most suitable model based on speed, cost, and quality. Users can further personalize the experience by connecting external databases like RetainDB. Nous offers three paid versions of its product: Hermes Cloud for consumers, and Hermes Business and Enterprise for corporate clients.
As of mid-September, the startup reported an annualized revenue of $36 million. Management projects this figure will exceed $100 million by the end of the year. The newly raised funds are earmarked for scaling the adoption of the company's business-oriented software editions.
