Nio has expanded its partnership with HERE Technologies to cover its entire European vehicle lineup. Previously, the collaboration was limited to the Firefly sub-brand, but now includes models such as the ET5, ET7, EL6, EL7, and EL8. The agreement focuses on integrating streaming map technology to provide real-time updates on road networks, traffic regulations, and points of interest.

The updated map data will support lane configuration tracking and road condition monitoring, which are essential for future assisted driving features in Europe. Nio and HERE are also exploring how location data can advance the development of AI-driven driving technologies, specifically targeting the Nio World Model and Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) systems.

This expansion follows an initial agreement from July 2025, which provided mapping data for Firefly to support connected navigation and advanced driver assistance systems. The partnership also incorporates HERE's speed-limit data to meet European Union intelligent speed assistance requirements, utilizing real-time traffic information provided through Telenav Inc.

The move coincides with Nio's strategic shift in its European operating model. The company recently reaffirmed its commitment to the region, planning to balance direct operations with local distributor partnerships. While the collaboration aims to improve software and navigation experiences, Nio has not yet announced a specific timeline for deploying these advanced driving features.
