Nio CEO William Li and CATL founder Robin Zeng met at the IAA Mobility exhibition to discuss the next phase of their strategic partnership. The companies plan to expand their collaboration and deepen synergy to improve quality standards in the new energy vehicle industry.

The partnership builds upon a five-year agreement signed in January in Hefei, Anhui. The deal focuses on three core areas: technology, ecosystem development, and market expansion. Both firms aim to foster innovation in business models and technical standards.

In the technical domain, the companies are jointly developing long-life batteries and battery-swapping technologies. They are prioritizing the implementation of new solutions to enhance product competitiveness. The collaboration also includes shared efforts in battery-swapping network resources.

The ecosystem strategy involves standardizing battery-swapping technology and expanding the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. In terms of market presence, Nio and CATL intend to conduct joint brand promotions globally to increase their international market share and influence.
