Developer seedds has released a tool called nxnative that allows running Nintendo Switch games on Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Unlike traditional emulators, this software converts game files into native applications that execute directly on Apple Arm-based processors.
The tool requires specific hardware to function, specifically an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, or an iPad equipped with at least an M1 chip. Users must also be running iOS 26 or iPadOS 26, as older models lack the capability to process the compressed textures used in these games.
To use nxnative, users need the original game files, decryption keys extracted from a console, and a Mac with Xcode to run the build script. The resulting applications must be sideloaded onto devices using tools like AltStore, Sideloadly, or LiveContainer.
The project repository on GitHub indicates that over 70 titles have been tested, including major exclusives such as Super Mario Odyssey, Metroid Dread, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The developer claims support for 60 fps, haptic feedback, and external controllers.
