Apple has introduced the TechWoven Smart Folio for the latest iPad mini, marking the first time the company has utilized woven fabric for its tablet covers. This new material replaces the polyurethane construction that has been a standard feature for Apple tablet accessories since 2011.
The new accessory is available in two color options: Navy Blue and Taupe, designed to complement the Midnight and Starlight finishes of the iPad mini. The product is priced at $79 in the United States, representing a $20 increase compared to the previous generation of Smart Folio covers.
The design has been updated to a dual-panel structure that attaches magnetically to the device. Apple states that this configuration provides a wider range of motion and additional viewing angles. The company has not announced a polyurethane alternative, making this the first iPad launch since 2010 without such an option.
Pre-orders for the new Smart Folio will begin on October 28, with the official market release scheduled for November 6. The accessory is intended to launch alongside the new iPad mini model.
