Elon Musk confirmed he is currently residing in an Airstream trailer located in Memphis, situated near the xAI facility. He shared this detail during an appearance on the All-In podcast alongside SpaceX president and COO Gwynne Shotwell, who noted that Musk is personally overseeing the construction of new company infrastructure.

The xAI company is expanding its computing capabilities in Memphis to support the Grok model. The original Colossus supercomputer complex was launched in 2024 and completed in 122 days. In late July, the firm announced plans for a new data center project known as Minihard.

The Minihard facility represents a significant expansion phase for xAI. Plans for the Colossus 2 upgrade involve constructing a new building spanning nearly 29,000 square meters. The total investment for this expansion is estimated at $659 million to enhance the performance of the Grok model.
