Elon Musk has announced plans to distribute one SpaceX share to every child in the United States in 2027. Based on the current share price of $146, the total value of this donation is estimated to exceed $10 billion, representing approximately 1% of Musk’s net worth.

The initiative follows a similar announcement by Anthropic, which intends to place 5% of its shares into a public benefit fund following its upcoming IPO. Musk publicly criticized this approach, suggesting that direct distribution to the public is a more effective method for charitable giving.

There are currently over 70 million children under the age of 18 in the United States. Musk holds approximately 849 million Class A common shares and over 5.5 billion Class B supervoting shares of SpaceX. The mechanism for the transfer remains unclear, though Musk mentioned potential use of Trump Accounts.

Historically, Musk’s charitable contributions have been managed through the Musk Foundation. Data indicates that a significant portion of the foundation's historical funding has been directed toward entities with personal ties to Musk, including a charity managed by his financial advisor, Jared Birchall.
