The Tokyo District Court has approved a one-year extension for the Mt. Gox repayment process. The new deadline for base, early lump-sum, and intermediate payments is now set for October 31, 2027.

Rehabilitation trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi stated that while many creditors have received their funds, others remain unpaid due to incomplete documentation or technical processing errors. This marks the sixth extension of the repayment timeline since 2023.

Mt. Gox initiated the distribution of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash to creditors in July 2024. By March 2025, the exchange reported that over 19,500 creditors had successfully received their repayments.

Current data from Arkham Intelligence indicates that wallets associated with Mt. Gox still hold approximately 34,400 BTC. The market value of these remaining assets is estimated at $2,8 billion.
