The AIFC Court of First Instance issued a default judgment on September 15, 2026, prohibiting six cryptocurrency exchanges from operating in Kazakhstan without proper authorization. The affected platforms include Coinbase, BingX, Bitcoin.com, HTX, BitMart, and WEEX.
These companies are now barred from offering or promoting digital asset services within the country or the Astana International Financial Centre. The court also ordered the operators to cover legal costs totaling approximately KZT 2 million.
The ruling follows the 2023 Law on Digital Assets, which mandates that only entities licensed by the Astana Financial Services Authority may conduct operations with unsecured digital assets. Binance Kazakhstan and Bybit Kazakhstan currently hold such licenses.
Nine other platforms avoided legal action by voluntarily restricting access for users in Kazakhstan. Additionally, LBank was removed from the initial list of defendants following a variation order issued on September 18, 2026.
