Netherlands-based deeptech company Morphotonics has secured over €40 million in a Series B funding round. The capital will be used to scale the production of the company's Cypris platform, which is designed for high-volume manufacturing of optical components, including waveguides for AI glasses and augmented reality devices.
The investment round saw participation from existing backers, including 3M Ventures, Innovation Industries, and BOM. Invest-NL joined as a major new investor, alongside the European Innovation Council Fund, Ernij Next, and the European Investment Bank. The company plans to use the funds to expand its engineering, commercial, and customer-support teams.
Morphotonics specializes in large-area nanoimprint lithography, a process that uses molds and UV light to replicate micro- and nanoscale structures on large substrates. This technology aims to lower costs and increase output for manufacturers. The company currently collaborates with partners in the US, China, Taiwan, and Europe.
Beyond AR and AI eyewear, the company intends to apply its manufacturing technology to sensors, display components, and photonic systems for data centers. The funding will also support the strengthening of supplier networks and the development of after-sales infrastructure to facilitate mass adoption of spatial computing hardware.
