Monterro, a B2B software investment firm with €3.1 billion in assets, has established its first UK office in London. The company chose a location in Soho to remain close to the city's software and technology cluster. The new office is tasked with sourcing deals and supporting existing portfolio companies rather than managing a UK-specific fund.

The firm was founded in 2012 and has completed 40 platform investments alongside more than 60 add-on acquisitions. Over 10 percent of these add-on deals have taken place in Britain. Last year, the company acquired the Newcastle-based data platform Erudus, which had an annual recurring revenue of approximately €1.6 million, to support its Matilda FoodTech portfolio.

The London team currently includes Erik Knutsson and Maxwell Starkie, who relocated from Stockholm. Monterro expects the office headcount to reach five or six employees within a year. The firm focuses on vertical software solutions in sectors like foodtech and construction tech, while avoiding generic horizontal software products.

Monterro typically executes add-on deals in the UK ranging from €1 million to €20 million. The firm prefers rollover deals that retain existing management rather than full founder buyouts. Other firms are also expanding in the region, with Main Capital Partners entering the UK market after raising €5.25 billion across two funds.
