NVIDIA released the DLSS 5 Neural Rendering model on October 16 alongside the game NBA 2K27. Modders, including Renan Maniero, extracted the 310.9.16.0 DLL build to test its performance in other titles. Tools like RenoDX and OptiScaler allow users to inject this library into games that lack official support.
Testing by Gaming Optimized in The Witcher 3 showed performance gains of up to 90% when switching from the older model to the new Preset B. NVIDIA reports that the October update reduces the model size by 24% to approximately 118 million parameters and cuts VRAM usage at 4K resolution by 20%.
The company claims the new neural rendering workload runs up to 2x faster than the September version. In NBA 2K27, NVIDIA cites up to 40% higher frame rates. While official support remains restricted to RTX 50-series GPUs and GeForce NOW, NVIDIA intends to expand compatibility to RTX 40-series cards.
Modders have already bypassed official restrictions, with OptiScaler documentation indicating that a modified runtime enables the technology to function on RTX 20-series hardware. There is currently no confirmed timeline for official support on RTX 40-series, RTX 30-series, or RTX 20-series graphics cards.
