Suhail, the founder and former CEO of Mixpanel, has launched a San Francisco-based AI startup called Particle. The company debuted on October 28, 2026, introducing its first model, Particle-1, which is a post-trained version of DeepSeek V4.1 Flash.

Particle-1 utilizes reinforcement learning to achieve its results. The startup claims the model requires 28.4% to 52.2% fewer output tokens on average compared to the base model, while maintaining accuracy. This efficiency leads to a reduction in the average cost per task by 34.4% to 51.6%.

The model is currently focused on software engineering workloads, with intentions to expand into other sectors in the future. Particle reports that the reduction in token usage also results in faster end-to-end task execution for users.

The startup is backed by investors including Y Combinator, 8VC, Patrick Collison, and Adam D’Angelo. The company aims to optimize intelligence accessibility and lower development costs for teams managing heavy coding tasks.
