Mitsubishi has unveiled the 2028 Outlander Diamond Trail Edition, which the company describes as its most capable North American model to date. The vehicle features a matte black grille, darkened headlights, 18-inch black alloy wheels, and Nexen Roadian ATX all-terrain tires. These modifications increase the front approach angle to 20.5 degrees and the rear approach angle to 23.1 degrees.
The interior of the production model includes water-repellent dark grey seats with khaki stitching and replaces piano black plastic with matte black and dark chrome accents. The powertrain remains a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, delivering 174 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque.
A key technical update is the adapted Super-All Wheel Control system, which now includes a dedicated Rock mode and works alongside Hill Descent Control. The instrument cluster now displays steering angle and wheel-slip data, while the multi-view camera system is now functional at speeds up to 18.6 mph.
At the upcoming SEMA Show, Mitsubishi will also present two concept versions of the Diamond Trail Edition. These concepts feature upgrades such as lift kits, specialized off-road tires, roof racks, rooftop tents, and additional lighting equipment. The company will also display the AXCR Triton rally vehicle and the Outlander Sport Trail Edition.
