Mitsubishi has unveiled the Diamond Trail Edition, a new off-road variant of the Outlander crossover. The vehicle is set for its public debut at the upcoming SEMA show. The manufacturer describes this model as the most capable off-road Outlander ever offered in the North American market.
The exterior features a matte black grille, darkened lighting, and new bumpers. It rides on 18-inch black wheels fitted with Nexen Roadian ATX tires. The approach angle has been improved to 20.5 degrees, while the departure angle is now 23.1 degrees. The vehicle is available in a new Trail Green Metallic paint.
Inside, the cabin replaces gloss black plastic with matte dark trim and water-repellent seat upholstery with contrast stitching. Special edition badging is present on the door panels, floor mats, and seat backs. The powertrain remains a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a 48-volt system, producing 174 horsepower and 279 Nm of torque.
The technical highlight is the updated S-AWC all-wheel-drive system, which now includes a Rock mode for rocky terrain and a hill descent control feature. The instrument cluster displays wheel slip, steering angle, and traction control activity. Additionally, the surround-view camera system now functions at speeds up to 30 km/h.
At SEMA, Mitsubishi will also showcase two modified concepts based on the Diamond Trail Edition. One features a 2.5-inch suspension lift, BFGoodrich tires, and a roof-mounted tent. The second includes a 1.5-inch lift and a mountain bike rack. The exhibit will also feature the Triton rally truck, Delica D:5 Ultimate Gear, and Outlander Sport Trail Edition.
