Microsoft is testing a new taskbar right-click menu in the Windows 11 Build 26340.9750 preview version. This update allows users to reposition the taskbar to any of the four screen edges directly from the menu, eliminating the need to navigate through the system settings application.
The new interface includes specific buttons for left, top, right, and bottom alignment. While the transition between positions is reported to be fast, testers noted minor scaling anomalies when switching the taskbar location while the Start menu is open.
This feature was previously spotted in internal engineering videos as a debugging tool. Its appearance in a public preview build suggests that Microsoft is expanding its testing phase. Despite this, the Windows 11 taskbar still lacks some features found in Windows 10, such as free drag-and-drop functionality, adjustable height, and automatic side hiding.
