Microsoft has acknowledged a technical issue affecting the Microsoft Edge 155 browser, specifically impacting enterprise users. Following an update from older versions, some managed devices are failing to launch the application.
The company attributed the malfunction to a server-side change but did not disclose specific technical details. To prevent further spread of the error, Microsoft has rolled back the problematic server-side updates.
For devices that completed the update before the rollback, the issue persists. Microsoft recommends that administrators disable the scheduled update restart task in the Edge management service and delete the contents of the Policy folder within the user data directory.
When performing the manual fix, administrators must retain the Primary Account file to prevent the loss of existing browser account data. Microsoft is currently investigating a permanent client-side fix to be released in future updates.
The company noted that the problem is primarily isolated to enterprise-managed environments. Consequently, the likelihood of individual home users experiencing this specific startup failure remains low.
