Microsoft announced plans to streamline the OneDrive context menu within the Windows 11 File Explorer. According to notice MC1515940, the update is scheduled to begin in mid-November 2026.
Currently, users see multiple Copilot-related AI actions in the OneDrive submenu, such as summarizing, creating FAQs, comparing files, and extracting text. These options often overlap with the primary Ask Copilot entry point.
The company will consolidate these scattered AI actions under the single Ask Copilot menu. Despite this change, all existing functionalities will remain accessible to users through the main entry point, hover buttons, or the OneDrive activity center.
