Microsoft has officially committed to providing driver and firmware updates for the new Surface Laptop Ultra for a period of six years. According to the company, support for these components will continue until October 16, 2032.
The device is positioned as a high-performance mobile workstation. It features the NVIDIA RTX Spark platform, including an N1X CPU and an RTX GPU. Users can configure the laptop with up to 128GB of unified memory and a Mini LED display.
This six-year support cycle aligns with Microsoft's policy for Surface devices released after January 1, 2021. While firmware and driver updates will cease in 2032, the laptop will continue to receive Windows 11 system updates beyond that date.
To maintain access to driver and firmware updates, users must ensure their device runs a version of Windows 11 released within the previous 30 months. Failure to keep the operating system updated may result in the loss of hardware-level support.
