Microsoft is testing a new feature in the latest Windows 11 preview build that streamlines the authentication process. The update allows facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, and PIN entry to remain active simultaneously on the lock screen.

Previously, Windows 11 required users to manually select their preferred login method if multiple options were configured. If the system defaulted to the PIN input field, the camera would not initiate facial recognition until the user actively switched the input mode.

The updated experience keeps all biometric sensors and the PIN field active in the background. The system automatically detects the user's input, allowing for immediate access via face, fingerprint, or PIN without manual intervention.

This change is particularly beneficial for devices equipped with infrared cameras and fingerprint sensors. It aims to reduce the number of steps required to unlock a computer, enhancing efficiency for users who frequently access their devices throughout the day.
