Microsoft has scheduled a major Windows and Surface event for October 7 in San Francisco. The event will feature key executives, including CEO Satya Nadella, Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

The primary focus of the presentation is the role of local artificial intelligence in the next phase of PC development. Discussions will center on AI agents and the integration of local AI models to reduce latency and data transmission compared to cloud-based solutions.

The company is expected to provide further details on the Surface Laptop Ultra, which was first introduced in May. The device features a new chassis design, an improved cooling system, and additional ports, and will be powered by the Nvidia RTX Spark platform.

Despite the focus on Windows, the company has no plans to announce Windows 12. Microsoft remains committed to Windows 11, with the Windows 11 26H2 update scheduled for release this autumn, primarily delivered via enablement packages.

Microsoft is currently prioritizing system quality and stability for Windows 11, incorporating user feedback into regular monthly updates. The event aims to highlight the evolution of the PC into an intelligent terminal capable of running local AI models.
