Microsoft has released Windows 11 26H2, which is now available for all compatible devices. The update is built on the same codebase as versions 25H2 and 24H2, functioning primarily as an activation package that enables features already delivered through monthly updates over the past year.
The release serves as a milestone for system improvements, including updates to the Start menu and File Explorer. Because the update is a small activation package, the installation process is designed to be completed within a few minutes without causing compatibility issues for users.
Installing Windows 11 26H2 resets the support lifecycle for the operating system. Users of Home and Pro editions will receive security updates and new features for 24 months, while commercial editions are entitled to 36 months of support.
