Microsoft has extended the support lifecycle for its App-V Server infrastructure until October 9, 2029. This decision adds three years to the original expiration date, which was previously set for April 2026.
The extension applies exclusively to the server component. Microsoft clarified that the product is no longer under active development, meaning no new features or design changes will be introduced during this extended period.
Support for the App-V client and Sequencer components remains tied to the lifecycle of the respective Windows versions. The company confirmed that this policy change does not affect the existing pricing model for App-V.
Microsoft recommends that businesses transition to the MSIX packaging format or utilize the App Attach service within Azure Virtual Desktop. App Attach allows for dynamic application mounting without the need to manage a dedicated App-V server.
