Microsoft has officially acknowledged a new technical issue triggered by the latest Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11. The update causes USB Audio Class 1.0 devices to malfunction, resulting in a Code 10 error within the Device Manager and a complete loss of sound output for affected users.
The glitch impacts several versions of the operating system, specifically 26H1, 25H2, and 24H2. While client devices are experiencing issues such as total silence, unresponsive volume controls, and the failure of multi-channel or 3D audio features, server versions of Windows 11 remain unaffected by this bug.
The company is currently investigating a permanent fix for the problem. In the meantime, Microsoft advises users to monitor the Windows Release Health dashboard for updates. Experts suggest avoiding the uninstallation of the security patch, as it contains nearly 1000 security fixes.
To restore audio functionality temporarily, users are advised to switch their multi-channel audio configuration to a standard two-channel mode. Alternatively, switching to a different headset remains a viable workaround until Microsoft releases an official software resolution.
