Meta Platforms Inc. has unveiled its new VR Glasses, a lightweight virtual reality device featuring a magnesium alloy frame and a Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite processor. The headset, which is five times lighter than the Quest 3, will retail for $1,299 and is scheduled for release next spring.

The device includes a 5K Infinite Display with micro-OLED technology, supporting Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced. Meta is partnering with The Walt Disney Co. to offer 3D movies on the platform starting in November. The system uses an external battery pack, or puck, to maintain its slim form factor.

Additionally, Meta introduced new audio-only AI glasses weighing 43 grams, priced at $349, with availability starting next month. The company also announced the third generation of its camera-equipped Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which feature a 12-megapixel camera and access to the new Muse AI assistant.

The Muse assistant is also integrated into a new portable handheld device called the Muse Charm. While pricing for the Muse Charm remains undecided, Meta aims to ship the units by the Christmas holidays. These product launches follow a period where the company deprioritized VR development.
