EDP Renewables North America has officially started construction on the Cypress Knee Solar project in Chicot County, Arkansas. The facility is designed to provide 250 megawatts of solar capacity. Completion of the solar farm is scheduled for 2028.
Meta has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement to acquire the electricity generated by the site. This project marks the third collaboration between Meta and EDPR NA, bringing their total combined renewable energy capacity under contract to 545 megawatts.
The development is expected to create several hundred construction jobs in the region. Over the project's operational lifetime, it is projected to generate approximately $25 million in revenue for the county.
EDPR NA has already invested more than $77,000 in local community initiatives during the development phase. These funds supported the Lakeside High School greenhouse, the local robotics team, and a food pantry.
