Google has announced plans to invest $17 billion into Project Tembo, a new data center campus located in Laramie County, Wyoming. This facility will be the company's first data center in the state and will span 716 acres near Cheyenne.

The infrastructure will consist of four main buildings covering 3.08 million square feet, alongside office and logistics facilities. The campus is designed for a power capacity of 2.7 GW, with Black Hills Corp. committing $1.8 billion to support new energy generation for the site.

The project includes a private microgrid agreement that extends through 2048. Google assumed leadership of the development in mid-2026 through its entity, Jupiter Star Holdings LLC, taking over from the original Project Jade venture.

Construction is scheduled to begin with site grading in late 2026, followed by vertical building in 2027. Initial operations are expected to commence in the second half of 2028, with full project completion targeted for the first half of 2031.
