Meta has announced a major update for its Ray-Ban smart glasses, scheduled for release in the second half of 2026. The update focuses on enhancing navigation, notification management, and video calling capabilities.

The navigation system will shift from simple street-name instructions to environment-based prompts, such as turning at a specific landmark. Additionally, the company is introducing dedicated modes for cycling and public transport.

Users will gain granular control over notifications, allowing them to filter out specific types of alerts to minimize distractions. This update aims to refine how information is presented to the user during daily wear.

Later this year, Meta will roll out the Hologram avatar feature to Early Access participants in the US, starting with WhatsApp video calls. Users will create these avatars by scanning their faces and recording a one-minute voice sample.

The glasses will also receive an Explore app later this year, serving as a discovery hub for third-party web applications. Meta has not yet confirmed if this feature will eventually evolve into a full-scale application store.
