Mercedes-Benz Trucks has introduced the eActros 600 Lowliner, a new model designed for volume transport that requires specific fifth-wheel heights. To accommodate this, engineers rotated and repositioned the battery packs within the vehicle frame, necessitating adjustments to high-voltage and charging components.

The company plans to offer the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) for the eActros 600 starting in 2027. During recent tests at the IAA Transportation trade fair, the vehicle successfully demonstrated charging power exceeding one megawatt, which the manufacturer views as essential for logistics efficiency.

Daimler Truck continues to pursue a dual-track strategy, developing both battery-electric vehicles and the GenH2 fuel-cell truck. While five GenH2 trucks are currently in customer testing, the company intends to increase this fleet to 100 vehicles to focus on industrialization, cost optimization, and series production.

The manufacturer emphasizes the use of liquid hydrogen for the GenH2 model to support long-range operations with high payloads. According to the company, battery-electric trucks are intended for shorter distances, while hydrogen-based vehicles are better suited for long-haul transport where infrastructure and load requirements differ.
