BYD has officially launched the Da Han EV, also known as the Great Han, in China. This premium battery-electric sedan is built on a 1,000-volt architecture and features a 102.3-kWh second-generation LFP Blade Battery. The vehicle supports flash charging, allowing it to charge from 10 to 97 per cent in nine minutes.
The sedan measures 5.26 metres in length, 2 metres in width, and 1.51 metres in height, with a wheelbase of 3.13 metres. It is available in three variants with prices ranging from ¥235,900 to ¥275,900. The curb weight of the vehicle is between 2.2 and 2.5 tonnes, and the drag coefficient is 0.197.
The entry-level and mid-range rear-wheel-drive models offer a range of 1,008 km according to the CLTC cycle, while the all-wheel-drive version provides 880 km. The single-motor variants produce 370 kW, and the all-wheel-drive model delivers 570 kW. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.9 seconds and 3.3 seconds, respectively.
The Da Han EV includes dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering with a 7-degree angle, and a LiDAR-based driver assistance system. Interior features include Nappa leather upholstery and a 31-speaker audio system. The exterior design incorporates the brand's Loong Face styling and 20- or 21-inch wheels.
Pre-sales for the model commenced on 21 August at the Chengdu Auto Show. While BYD has applied for regulatory approval for a plug-in hybrid version, only the battery-electric models are currently available. The launch of the Great Han and the previously released Great Tang aims to strengthen BYD's position in the premium market segment.
