Mercedes-Benz has officially launched series production of the all-electric GLA at its Rastatt plant. The company is prioritizing the electric version, which will be followed by hybrid and combustion-engine models later this year. The vehicle is based on the MMA platform, offering a range of up to 657 km and supporting charging speeds of up to 320 kW.

The new GLA replaces the previous EQA designation, unifying the naming convention across different drivetrains. Orders for the electric SUV opened in late July with a starting price of €48,599. The official dealer premiere and the start of customer deliveries are scheduled for November.

The production process at the Rastatt facility integrates the MB.OS operating system, artificial intelligence, and the MO360 production ecosystem. Current assembly takes place in Hall 4.0. Mercedes-Benz is also investing a low three-digit million euro amount to refurbish Hall 4.1, where production will expand in 2027 using digital twin technology.

The supply chain for the new model leverages internal resources: electric drive units and axles are sourced from Untertürkheim, including the Mettingen and Hedelfingen sites. High-voltage batteries are supplied by the subsidiary Accumotive in Kamenz, Saxony, which serves as a central hub for the company's global battery production network.
