MegaFon has launched a free trial of its 5G mode feature, which boosts mobile internet speeds by 1.6 times on existing LTE networks. The offer is available to all subscribers from September 15 to September 20, 2026. Once activated, the high-speed mode remains active for six hours.

The service does not require a specific smartphone model or a tariff change, as it is compatible with most modern devices. Users can activate the feature independently through the operator's personal account. The technology is designed to improve performance for streaming, video conferencing, and cloud services in high-traffic areas.

According to the operator, the primary users of high-speed mobile data are men aged 35–44 who own Apple or Samsung devices. The regions with the highest demand for faster connectivity include Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Samara and Sverdlovsk regions, and the Krasnodar Territory.

The top ten list of regions also includes the Rostov Region, Bashkiria, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and the Chechen Republic. The operator aims to provide users with a practical experience of enhanced network performance in real-world conditions.
